The World Surf League’s sustainability program is a global initiative aimed at protecting the ocean. The brand’s visual identity had become disconnected from the surfing community, resulting in low engagement on social media and at event activations. Our objective was to raise awareness, engage and activate the next generation of environmental advocates.
Solution
Build a comprehensive brand identity that connected with a younger demographic through ocean themed textures, fresh vibrant colors, whimsical illustrations, and bold typography that would come to life on social media.
To launch the rebrand, we announced Speak Up For The Ocean, a social media campaign inviting the surf community to share sustainability stories around ocean health and environmental action. To maximize impact, we leveraged key athletes that appealed to a younger social savvy demographic. The community responded with personal videos showcasing beach clean-ups, volunteering efforts, and a variety ways of reducing their environmental footprints.
